GatesCreativebroughtmeinasamotiondesignertohelppitchthebrandidentityforOnly,OldNavy'sGenZsub-brand.Ianimatedthelogoahandfulofdifferentways.Builtloopingpatternswithintentionalirreverence,someplayful,somealittleunhinged,allbuiltforagenerationthatscrollspastanythingstatic.Afewofthoseanimationsbecamethecoremotionthebrandactuallylaunchedwith.Icameintothisprojectboredofstaticdesignandwithoutmuchreal-worldmotionexperience.Ileftithooked.Somethingclickedaboutwatchingabrandactuallymove,anditpushedmetoinvestseriouslyinmotiondesignasaskillIcouldcarryintoeverybrandidentityfromhereonout.Iwon'tbotherthrowingstatsatyou.It'sOldNavy.Everybodyalreadyknowsthename,soIthinkit'ssafetosaythebranddidjustfine.
